so, where are all the angry fans going WTF?! JJ Abrams you just destroyed 40 yrs of canon in one fell swoop! You bastard, you just negated everything!
Am I honestly the only on who feels like the entire universe/fandom has been eradicated? because it has. this isn't a few whales leaving San Francisco Bay, this is entire chunks and really big freaking pieces of what made up Star Trek gone.
You know, Spock quotes his line from Wrath of Khan, "I have, and always will be your friend." from right before he dies. You remember how they take him to Vulcan to save him? OOOPS, nope, sorry, that never happened. Tuvok? is never born. (I know, many people don't care about Voyager but I enjoyed it for what it was and it was CANON). I bet Savik isn't even born. And i mean, those are just some obvious ones. The ramifications .....
He changed everything.
I quite enjoyed the movie up until it gave the finger to everything that has come before. All of the character quirks we laughed at because they reflected the original series DO NO EXIST. it literally makes my brain hurt. because i want to love the new movie but... it erased Star Trek. why did it have to go that far? why did Spock stay in the past? why didn't they reverse all the changes and still save the day? wouldnt that too have been more in keeping with Star Trek and oh, i dont know, kept Star Trek?
They keep doing all these prequels, like they're ashamed of all the other stuff, like all they want to do is rewrite it and make it shinier and get more fans. SINCE WHEN DO THEY NEED MORE FANS?! Weren't we enough?!
Well fuck you, i like my Next Gen, DS9 and yes, even Voyager. And i liked my kirk and spock and all them peoples in their original variation. I think Starfleet Time Police need to get in there and do a little regulating.
