Go to your latest WIP, the seventh page, seven lines down and post the next seven lines:

Thus far his own efforts, while productive in other ways, had only managed to exhaust him, leaving his mind free to spin off in whichever direction it chose. Just now it really wanted to come back around and dwell awhile on Eames despite Arthur’s determination to fully ignore the other man’s existence.

He sent back a sympathetically worded reply to Phillipa and spent a ridiculous amount of time flipping through the photos from Ariadne. The last one contained an actual message:

Text from Ariadne: U kind of dropped off the map after the last job?

Kind of boring, not too embarrassing lol

I really need to post the next part of this wip -.- I left off at a TERRIBLE point

I love this meme and seeing all the things people carry around. My handbag is actually quite sparse just at the moment because I've been switching between it, a backpack and not carrying one at all so many things are not in their correct places...

When you see someone else post their favourite poem, post yours!

I discovered Jack Gilbert during poetry month yrs and yrs ago (Poets.org has a mailing list where everyday of the month they feature a different poem and it shows up in your inbox. i find it the perfect way to start the day and a great way to discover old and new poets alike). I enjoy many of his poems, they are simple and free verse and beautiful but this is the first one i read and it has never left me.

Failing and Flying
by Jack Gilbert

Everyone forgets that Icarus also flew.
It's the same when love comes to an end,
or the marriage fails and people say
they knew it was a mistake, that everybody
said it would never work. That she was
old enough to know better. But anything
worth doing is worth doing badly.
Like being there by that summer ocean
on the other side of the island while
love was fading out of her, the stars
burning so extravagantly those nights that
anyone could tell you they would never last.
Every morning she was asleep in my bed
like a visitation, the gentleness in her
like antelope standing in the dawn mist.
Each afternoon I watched her coming back
through the hot stony field after swimming,
the sea light behind her and the huge sky
on the other side of that. Listened to her
while we ate lunch. How can they say
the marriage failed? Like the people who
came back from Provence (when it was Provence)
and said it was pretty but the food was greasy.
I believe Icarus was not failing as he fell,
but just coming to the end of his triumph.
