the joys of gardening...
Mar. 7th, 2004 02:06 pm*groans and streches out back* well, i just spent an hour weeding my Da's garden... for those of you who dont quick grasp the significance of this ack i'll explain...
I live in Western Washing, US; specificaly near abouts the area where average rainfall is 100in per year. Now, this just happens to be the time where the majority of that 100in is still falling. Now my Dad, he really luvs to garden and once upon a time we used to have 2 HUGE front yards, then one day my Dad gets it into his head to turn the bigger of those two lawns into a fenced vegetable/strawberry/rasberry garden. Now, take into effect that my Dad is now a good bit older then he was then and also a great deal busyer and we are not actually at spring yet and what do you get? a shitload of weeds thats what.
Now, like i said i just spent an hour weeding and want to know what i've got to show for it? 6 buckets (ie 35 lbs) of weeds and a marginally better looking plot of dirt. i guess i cant complain though, its been rainging a ton lately so the grounds nice and spngy (good for weedpulling). so ya, i really need to get back out there... you'll probably hear from me again in an hour.
Did i mention its a good thing i'm not doing this with the sis? (she's terrified of spiders) i mean, i'm almost disturbed by how many spiders are zippin' around out there *shakes head*
