end of the week
Mar. 20th, 2004 12:50 ami thought that because i had a written a "start of a new week" i should write a "end of a week"... that and i'm tired and my brain is on"Dune" overload. but thank god for weekends!
so, i borrowed the Sci-Fi channel versions of Dune and Children of Dune from a friend.... started watching Dune with my Da this afternoon (he was the one who originally got me hooked on the books). we made it through the first 2 dvds on the director's cut before calling it a night. add that to the 1 1/2 hrs i spent yesturday readig God Emperor or Dune and... ya, overload.
Anyway, this version of Dune is much more indepth and, in general, more acurate then the old 80's version... except i liked Sting as Feyd darnit! yummyiness all wrapped up in skintight leather, whats not to like?! ::cough:: The effects in this new version are... well, come are good and some are just terrible! and they shot nothing on location, everything is done on set so when they've got these outdoors-y, in and amongst the dunes, shots they are sooooooo cheesy! but oh well *lol*
character wise...
Paul is kinda underdeveloped... not the acting per say just it feels like they've left out some crucial inner stuggle stuff of his...
Feyd isnt as cute...
Gurney was pretty cool...
Duncan was much better in this version...
Jessica was... good in parts and not so good in others.
Stilgar is too short and a little too chubby
Irulan... wow, they wrote a complete extra twist for her
Hasimer (sp?) ::pouts:: is like my fav frickin character and the way they wrote in his part is really giving me the wiggins!
ya, i'll stop now *lol* for the most part though its not that bad really... i'm hoping the sets/special effects ect are a little better in the next one.
So, still diligently working on Tea With the Devil. i'm on chapter 3, woot! ya, not really all that great but i was so proud that ch2 was 1400 words! again with the pathetic but it really is an achievment for me ;)
i really need to update FM and UAN... plus i have this really pretty new layout for Water From the Moon which i really need to get up *sigh* first though, i need sleep... in large quantities. night!
